Monterey Residents Encouraged to Apply by 12 p.m. on May 3, 2024

Monterey, CA. – The Monterey City Council will fill numerous seats on Monterey’s boards, commissions, and committees in the coming months, and invites residents to apply. Seats will be filled on the Appeals Hearing Board, Architectural Review Committee, Board of Library Trustees, Building and Housing Appeals Board, Disabled Access Appeals Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Measures P & S Oversight Committee, Museums and Cultural Arts Commission, Neighborhood and Community Improvement Program (NCIP) Committee, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Planning Commission. The available positions represent a combination of upcoming term expirations and current vacancies.

“The City needs smart, enthusiastic people who are energized to volunteer in this important way. Our boards, commissions, and committees do crucial work and provide valuable feedback to the City Council,” said Mayor Tyller Williamson.

The City Clerk’s Office will host community outreach events to talk with residents about the various positions and what they do for the city. These free events will be held at the Monterey Public Library on Saturday, April 27 at 10:15 a.m. and online via Zoom on Monday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. For attendance information, visit https://monterey.gov/bcc

Applications will be accepted until seats are filled; however, priority review will be given to applications received by noon (12 p.m.) on Friday, May 3, 2024. Current members with upcoming term expirations must apply to be considered for reappointment. Appointments are anticipated to be made at a City Council meeting in late June. To apply, visit https://monterey.gov/bcc   With questions, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 831-646-3935 or email cityclerk@monterey.gov.
