California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) congratulated the City of Monterey Public Works Department on winning the 2020 Caltrans Excellence in Transportation award in the Transportation-Related Facilities category for the North Fremont Bicycle and Pedestrian Access and Safety Improvement Project. Caltrans received entries from across the state, including entries from local and public agencies, private contractors, consultants and Caltrans. On November 30, 2020 at approximately 8:23 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to West Franklin Street and Larkin Street regarding an attempted armed robbery. On November 28, 2020 at approximately 6:57 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to Mandeville Court on a report of a burglary in progress at a closed business. The person reporting the incident observed the suspect inside the business removing items before leaving in a pickup truck. Responding officers located the truck on Highway 68 and stopped it.
