Did you know the library offers free ebooks? Have you been meaning to try using them but aren't sure how to get started? Get stuck the last time you tried? Want tips and tricks to maximize your usage? Would some one-on-one assistance help get you started? Our Library Technology Volunteer Steven will help! Bring your device and/or laptop and we'll walk through the steps. An Illustrated View of Historic Hotel Del Monte, a program and lunch with John Sanders, Historical Storyteller, Retired Special Collections Manager, Naval Postgraduate School

The Friends of the Monterey Public Library and the Monterey Public Library Endowment Committee invite you to a program and lunch with John Sanders, Historical Storyteller, Retired Special Collections Manager, Naval Postgraduate School.

John Sanders will talk about his book in progress, An Illustrated View of Historic Hotel Del Monte, a pictorial narrative of the pioneering resort that transformed the Monterey Peninsula from a quiet pueblo into a renowned tourist mecca. John will lead a walkabout following the luncheon program for those interested. John Sanders is a historical storyteller whose colorful tales of the past offer contemporary relevance. During his 31-year career at the Naval Postgraduate School, he introduced visiting dignitaries to the historic Hotel Del Monte, now the NPS campus, organized many programs to provide public access to the elegant hotel and established an archive to help preserve Del Monte’s heritage.

The event takes place at the Naval Postgraduate School, Herrmann Hall, La Novia Room, 1 University Circle, Monterey, CA 93943. Tickets are $45 per person. Admission is complimentary for 1849 Society Members and guests. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mplfriends.com, in person at the Library Help Desk or by phone at 831.646.5632.
