Join historian and City of Monterey's Museums, Cultural Arts, and Archives Manager, Dennis Copeland, for a slide-illustrated lecture on the Mexican era in the Alta California capital at Monterey, on Saturday, September 24, 1 p.m.  This program "When We Were Mexico; A Frontier Province and Its Capital - Monterey" is part of "The Big Read" project, in cooperation with The National Steinbeck Center.  The book being read widely read in the community is Sun, Stone, and Shadows; 20 Great Mexican Short Stories by Jorge F.
