Teen Read Week 2016!

This year's theme is: Read for the Fun of It!

Every year, we host a reading contest and hold programs that fit the theme in honor of Teen Read Week. This year's Teen Read Week does fall right on Fall Break for most Monterey schools, and so we are going to do something different this year. For all those wonderful days you get off from school, I know some of you will take the opportunity to start reading or finish reading some of those books you put aside in favor of school work. It is time to read for fun!

The contest this year will be held entirely online, so that you can participate remotely from wherever you are this break!

To participate, you must be a Middle or High School-aged student. If you fit this criterion, here are your instructions. Not following the instructions could result in your entries not being accepted:

1. You must choose a book to either start reading or finish reading by October 15th.
2. Once you've done this, add a comment to this blog entry that states your:                                                                                  - name,                                                                                                                                                                                                       -contact information (when you enter this information into the website no one will be able to see it but me),                 - and the name of the book you'll be reading (The book must be age appropriate. No Dr. Seuss guys.)
3. On October 15th or before it, state the progress you've made on your book. Also provide a review of the book that reflects what you have read so far (or the entire book if you've finished).                             
4. Your name will go in a drawing for a $25 VISA Gift Card.                                                                                                              -if you finish your book, your name goes in the drawing 5 times                                                                                                  -if you've made decent headway into your book, your name goes into the drawing 3 times                                                    -if you've only just started or haven't made it very far, your name goes in 1 time (Thank you for attempting!)
5. No entries will be taken after 11:59 pm on October 15th.
