FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monterey Public Library presents “Summer Reading: Reading by Design!” our annual program to encourage children to enjoy books during the summer and maintain the reading skills they learn during the school year. Children earn prizes for reading and receive free books and passes to local attractions.

Summer Reading begins with a Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 3, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on the Colton Hall lawn. Enjoy live music and games, as well as art and science fun with Monterey Recreation! Sign up for Summer Reading and learn about free family events at the library, including performing parrots, Robot Day, Harry Potter Club, and computer coding.

Whether you read to your toddler, you have a beginning reader, or your child reads independently, this program is for you. The library also offers Summer Reading activities for teens and adults. Check the website for details about these programs and other library events.  All Summer Reading events are free.

Monterey Public Library is located at 625 Pacific Street, Monterey.  For more information call 831.646.3933 or visit www.monterey.org.
