Roald Dahl, born 100 years ago today, will be celebrated in his hometown in Cardiff (Wales) in a huge arts event where the famous storyteller and his characters will be central to the festivities. Dahl, who died 26 years ago was the author of such works as Fantastic Mr. Fox, Mathilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach was known for his somewhat macabre sense of humor. Over the years, some folks have been troubled by the dark and sometimes unsavory side of Dahl's characters and stories, his books remain popular especially with children, and many of his works would certainly fall under the category of "classic." But don't take my word for it - we've got plenty of his titles to choose from at the Library. Check them out!
