The Monterey Public Library and Bookmobile will kick-off the annual Summer Reading Program for kids, teens and adults on Saturday, June 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. Participants may sign up for the program and enjoy a variety of activities throughout the afternoon.
This year's Summer Reading Program theme is "Reading is So Delicious!" Activities will include Mad Science Kitchen Chemistry at 1:30 p.m., and Mad Science Tantalizing Taste at 3 p.m. for ages six and up, along with Carnivorous Plants with Bay Area Botanicals, an opportunity to meet local chef Mary Chamberlin, author of The Traveling Soup Pot: A Savory Journey through Many Lands, Napkin Folding, Monterey Bay Derby Dames, Re-think your Drink with Network for a Healthy California, information on United Nations food programs around the world, a cakewalk, snacks, and crafts.
