The Monterey Public Library is continuing its community heritage program to preserve personal and family stories through video interviews and sharing of photographs.  The audio-visual materials and photographs will become part of the Library's archival collections, where they will be available for researchers, scholars, genealogists for generations to come.  For this project, the Library is seeking members of the Japanese-American community in Monterey to participate in on-camera interviews to talk informally about their experiences growing up, living, and working in Monterey in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.  If you are interested in partricipating in this project, please contact Jeanne McCombs at (831) 646-3949 or Dennis Copeland at (831) 646-3741.  Alternately email

This project is funded by a grant from the Thomas Doud the Sr., and Anita M. Doud Fund I and the Marcia F. DeVoe Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County.
