07/24/2021: Lewd Acts with a Minor Arrest

On July 7, 2021, Monterey Police Officers responded to a report of a past tense lewd and lascivious act involving an adult male and a minor.  Through further investigation, Jin Jung, 48, of Monterey, was identified as the suspect in this case.  On July 23, 2021, detectives served a search warrant on Jung’s residence and arrested him. 07/18/2021: Fatal Collision Investigation

On July 18th, 2021 at 12:26 a.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision in the 600 block of Casanova Avenue.  Officers arrived on scene and observed a single motorcycle, which was carrying two people, appeared to have lost control and crashed while traveling northbound on Casanova Avenue. Officers and medical personnel attempted to render aid to the driver and passenger. Tragically, the driver succumbed to his injuries sustained from the collision.  The driver was identified as Giovanni Jimenez, 27 years old of Monterey.  The passenger was transported to Natividad Medical Center in critical condition. 07/17/2021: Update - Arrest - Annoying a Minor

On July 16, 2021, Monterey Police Detectives identified Charles Trembley, 61 years old of Hollister, as the suspect in this case. Trembley is the registered owner of a truck with distinct features matching the suspect vehicle description provided by witnesses.  Trembley was also identified by witnesses as the suspect. 07/15/2021: Annoying a Minor

On July 15, 2021 at 12:02 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to Dennis the Menace Park at 777 Pearl Street regarding a report of a male loitering in the area and attempting to entice young children into his vehicle with candy.  An adult in the area saw this and intervened.  The male suspect left the area before officers arrived. This summer, the Monterey Police Department will be dispensing well-deserved Slurpee justice to good kids in Monterey.  For the 26th year, 7-Eleven is working with local police and Sheriff’s departments to distribute free Slurpee drink coupons to children and youth through its popular Operation Chill community-service program.
