04/15/2020: Fatal Motorcycle Incident

On April 14th, 2020 at 4:26 PM, Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Del Monte Avenue regarding a report of a single vehicle motorcycle collision. As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist - a 59 year old resident of Seaside - was transported to Natividad Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. Witnesses reported the motorcyclist was traveling Westbound on Del Monte in the 2400 block when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the raised center median. Del Monte Avenue was closed for approximately 45 minutes while officers investigated the collision. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

The City of Monterey announced today that a new public advisory to fight the COVID-19 pandemic went into effect to ensure that users of the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail remain within the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. 04/04/2020: Shelter in Place Violation Enforcement

On Friday, April 3, 2020 at approximately 8:12 pm Monterey Police Department (MPD) officers received a noise complaint in an apartment complex on Helvic Avenue, Monterey. The Apartment manager and the MPD telephonically contacted the person who lived in the apartment and advised her of the noise complaint and the Shelter in Place violation, if there was a gathering or party for non-essential purposes. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

04/03/2020: Arrest – Domestic Violence Attempted Homicide, Stabbing

On April 1, 2020 at approximately 5:30 am, Monterey Police Department (MPD) Officers were dispatched to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) for a report of a victim who had been stabbed.
