12/14/2020: City of Monterey's North Fremont Improvement Project Wins 2020 Caltrans Excellence in Transportation Award

California Department of  Transportation (Caltrans) congratulated the City of Monterey Public Works Department on winning the 2020 Caltrans Excellence in Transportation award in the Transportation-Related Facilities category for the North Fremont Bicycle and Pedestrian Access and Safety Improvement Project. Caltrans received entries from across the state, including entries from local and public agencies, private contractors, consultants and Caltrans. A panel of judges consisting of various professionals, including engineers, environmental specialists and transportation planners reviewed the projects. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

On November 30, 2020 at approximately 8:23 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to West Franklin Street and Larkin Street regarding an attempted armed robbery.  The victim reported he was walking westbound on West Franklin toward Larkin when a pick-up truck stopped next to him. 12/02/2020: Burglary

On November 28, 2020 at approximately 6:57 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to Mandeville Court on a report of a burglary in progress at a closed business.  The person reporting the incident observed the suspect inside the business removing items before leaving in a pickup truck.  Responding officers located the truck on Highway 68 and stopped it. 11/23/2020: Sexual Batter on Recreation Trail

On Friday, November 20, 2020, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Monterey Police Department officers were dispatched to the recreation trail near the area of 2600 Sand Dunes related to a sexual battery. A female was jogging on the recreation trail near Del Monte and Ramona when she was grabbed from behind. The unknown suspect groped the female. The victim fought off the suspect and he fled the scene toward Sand City. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF
