06/16/2020: The Veterans Resource Center joins The MPD Mult-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT)

The Monterey Police Department (MPD) has worked closely with the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) through the monthly meeting hosted by MPD, known as the “Homeless Exchange” to find resources for veterans. Recently the VRC has been able to expand its’ staffing and has volunteered to join in the efforts with the MPD Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT.) The MPD is excited to announce the VRC as the newest member to the MDOT team and the increased possibilities of this collaboration. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

On June 15, 2020, at approximately 2:22 a.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a female subject who had threatened the clerk at Chevron, 351 Fremont Street, with a knife. 06/10/2020: City of Monterey, Fisherman’s Wharf Association and Gathering for Women Team Up to Distribute Free Paper Masks to Visitors to Old Fisherman’s Wharf During Weekends

The City of Monterey, Fisherman’s Wharf Association and Gathering for Women are teaming up to conduct a special program to distribute paper masks to visitors to Old Fisherman’s Wharf who are not wearing them when they arrive at the Wharf. Volunteers from Gathering for Women will be offering a free mask to visitors without masks on Saturdays and Sundays from Noon to 3 pm at the head of the Wharf. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

06/08/2020: Library Reopens for Grab and Go Curbside Pickup

The Monterey Public Library is reopening beginning Thursday, June 11, 2020 exclusively for grab and go curbside pickup of Library materials. Hours to start will be Tuesdays through Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Customers will receive a notice that their hold is ready for pickup. They must bring their library card, wear a face mask, and practice social distancing. The community currently has over 2,000 items on hold for pick up. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

Condolences - The Monterey Police Department offers our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller. The MPD also holds the other law enforcement personnel, who were injured in that event, in our thoughts and prayers for a quick and full recovery.
