Records Release
Fingerprinting (standard ink rolling) is available Thursday - Friday, 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. for $12 per fingerprint card. No appointment is required for inked fingerprinting. LiveScan fingerprinting is available by appointment only at:

Appointments are scheduled on Wednesday, from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Please contact the Records Division for an appointment at (831) 646-3830. Our rolling fee for Live Scan is $33 which is in addition to any fees established by the Department of Justice (DOJ) ranging from $30-$150.

Police Reports
If you are the victim of a crime or involved in an accident, you may obtain a copy of that report. If you are charged with a crime, a copy can be obtained through the Monterey County District Attorney's office. All Reports are $0.10 per page for hard copies, or requests can be emailed with a copy of the requester's identification to mpdrecords@monterey.org, which are processed at no charge . The Application for Release of Police Report is available in PDF and also online fillable form.

CLEARANCE LETTER REQUESTS
Persons requesting a Police Clearance Letter must be physically identified by comparing them to their photo identification. • Alarm Permit Application - Monterey Municipal Code Section 22-9.1 requires that all alarm devices within the City of Monterey be approved by the Monterey Police Department and a permit issued. Please make your payment payable to: City of Monterey The fees for false alarm activations are billed monthly and are on a cumulative basis from July 1 through June 30 of each year. Please ensure that your alarm device is in good working order and appropriate training has been provided to all individuals responsible for its operation. Abandoned Vehicles
To report an abandoned vehicle, call 646-3973.

Abandoned cars have no place in the City. Vehicles cannot be stored on City streets and any vehicles left on the street may be towed. Under City Code CHAPTER 20 Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article 6 section 20-72 , vehicles left in one spot on the street for more than 72 hours can be towed.

Currently a registered owner, in violation of the ordinance, is given a 10-day notice to move the vehicle.
Identified vehicles will be marked with chalk on the tire and have a notice put on the windshield. Police personnel will come back after 72 hours, and if the vehicle doesn't appear to have been moved, it can be towed.

If you will be gone for an extended period of time, either park on private property or have someone drive your vehicle periodically. Let a neighbor know you will be gone so they can inform police personnel. When practical, police personnel will check the neighborhood for the vehicle owner before towing. Abandoned vehicles are often found in neglected neighborhoods. Studies show that an area that appears rundown is significantly more likely to experience serious crime.
