Animal Control Services

The Monterey Police Department's animal control services provide for the health and safety of citizens and domestic animals. MPD enforces domestic animal-related laws to ensure the proper care and treatment of domestic animals and promote responsible pet ownership. Responsible pet owners need to know that along with the obligation to properly feed, shelter, and care for a pet, there are laws (ordinances) to protect the domestic animal, the pet owner, and the community.

Animal Control Assistance Provided by the Monterey Police Department Include:
  • Assistance with domestic animal bites
  • Stray dogs
  • Removal of deceased animals
  • Domestic animal noise complaints
  • Animals in vehicles
  • Domestic animal injuries
