Welcome to the Planning Office, a division of the Community Development Department. Planning staff is committed to excellent customer service. Our goal is to make information accessible to the public and to make our permitting process as user-friendly as possible. We focus our priorities on projects that will achieve the City Council-adopted Vision, Value Drivers and Strategic Initiatives.

  • Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration for the North Fremont Street Sidewalk Gap Closure Project:

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Mitigated Negative Declaration, pursuant to CEQA requirements, for the North Fremont Street Sidewalk Gap Closure Project.

    The proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration and Initial Study (see document link below), as well as referenced documents, are available for review on the City website at www.monterey.org/planning. In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Mitigated Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from December 23, 2021, through January 24, 2022 (see Notice of Intent link below for information on how to submit comments). A public hearing for this project has not been scheduled as of the date of this notice.
