Providing Places, Programs for Enjoyment
Quality recreation and leisure programs and safe and attractive parks and recreation facilities foster a healthy, active community. Here in Monterey, the Parks and Recreation Commission provides input and assistance to staff in developing the top-rate programs, activities, parks and facilities we have all come to depend on.

What is the purpose of the commission?
The seven-member Commission serves as an advisory board for the Parks and Recreation Department that includes camps, community centers, 37 parks, baseball fields, playgrounds, the Recreation Trail and more. The Commission helps develop the network of events and programs that meet the needs of all age groups.

Projects the Commission has brought to the community include the Monterey Sports Center, four Community Centers, Dennis the Menace Playground, and the Skate Park located behind Frank E. Sollecito Jr. Ballpark.
