Directions and Parking

DIRECTIONS TO THE HARBORMASTER OFFICE
From Hwy 1 going north
Take the Aguajito Road exit, turn left at the first traffic signal intersection, which is Aguajito Road, and continue under Highway 1 and cross Fremont Street. At the next traffic signal intersection, which is Del Monte Avenue, turn left. Continue down Del Monte Avenue to Figueroa Street. The entrance to Monterey Harbor is at Figueroa Street. Turn right on Figueroa and left into the parking lot.

From Hwy 1 going south
Take the Del Monte Avenue exit; go down Del Monte Avenue for several blocks. The entrance to Monterey Harbor is at Figueroa Street on your right-hand side.

From Fremont Street
From Fremont Street, turn onto Aguajito Road. Take Aguajito Road to the next traffic signal, which is Del Monte Avenue. Turn left onto Del Monte Avenue. Continue down Del Monte Avenue to Figueroa Street. The entrance to Monterey Harbor is at Figueroa Street. Turn right on Figueroa and left into the parking lot.

From Lighthouse Avenue (New Monterey and Pacific Grove)
Continue on Lighthouse Avenue under the tunnel where the street becomes Del Monte Avenue. Keep to the left and turn left at the next traffic signal intersection, which is Figueroa Street. This takes you into the Monterey Harbor parking lot.

DIRECTIONS TO THE COAST GUARD PIER

Parking
Waterfront Lot Parking Permits are available to the public at the "Pay Here Kiosks" and through the "Park Mobile App". Parking a vehicle with a boat trailer would require two spaces. The Parking Permits are valid for the vehicle or trailer identified by license number on the permit, from midnight to midnight, on the day or days listed.

Pull through spaces are reserved for vehicles with boat trailers from 2:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. After 9:00 a.m. these pull through spaces become open Pay Station parking and available to all vehicles.

Parking Permits include in and out privileges.

From Hwy 1 going south
Take the Del Monte Avenue exit, continue down Del Monte Avenue for several blocks and go under the tunnel where the street turns into Lighthouse Avenue. Get into the right-hand lane. As the street veers to the right it turns into Foam Street. Continue on Foam Street to the first right and turn into the parking lot and boat launch area at the Coast Guard Pier.

From Fremont Street
From Fremont Street, turn onto Aguajito Road. Take Aguajito Road to the next traffic signal, which is Del Monte Avenue. Turn left onto Del Monte Avenue. Continue down Del Monte Avenue for several blocks and go under the tunnel where the street turns into Lighthouse Avenue. Get into the right-hand lane. As the street veers to the right it turns into Foam Street. Continue on Foam Street to the first right and turn into the parking lot and boat launch area at the Coast Guard Pier.

From Lighthouse Avenue (New Monterey and Pacific Grove)
Take Dickman Avenue to Cannery Row and turn right. Cannery Row dead ends to the entrance to boat launch ramp and parking lot at the Coast Guard Pier. Turn left to enter the parking lot.
Preferential Parking Programs for Marina Boat Owners
Preferential parking programs have been designed to assist owners of boats in Monterey Municipal Marina. These programs include:

  • Owners of boats with license agreements for South Tiers slips, entered from the ramp by the Harbormaster's office, are entitled to a Waterfront Permit. The permit can only be purchased by a boat owner with a license agreement for a slip in the South Tiers. Waterfront Lot Permits are available at a special price from Harbormaster's Office at 250 Figueroa Street, adjacent to the Public launch Ramp.
  • Owners of boats with License agreements for slips on A and H tiers, entered from the ramps from Municipal Wharf #2, are entitled to a Wharf II Permits. The permit can only be purchased by a boat owner with a license agreement for a slip on A or H tier. They are also available at a special price from the Harbormaster's Office.
  • Both permits include provisions for parking in overflow areas during times of heavy use of the waterfront parking facilities:
Waterfront Permits are valid at the locations listed below in the following order. For example, when parking at (1) is full, (2) would be the next available location to park and use the Waterfront Permit.
 
  • East Waterfront Lot Monthly Permit spaces.
  • East Waterfront Lot at Pay Station spaces (Except for Trailer Only Spaces from 2 to 10 a.m.)
  • In the S.P. Lot
Wharf II Permits are valid at the locations listed below in the following order. For example, when parking at (1) is full, (2) would be the next available location to park and use the Waterfront Permit.

  • Wharf II Permit Spaces
  • In Red Permit Spaces -- Weekends and Holidays ONLY
  • In permit areas designated in the East Waterfront Lot
  • In the S.P. Lot

Upon initial purchase, our Parking Division will contact the Harbor Office to confirm entitlement to permit privileges. Note: Although these parking permits are primarily set aside for boat owners, some waterfront businesses that lease facilities from the City are also granted permits.
