Monterey's Harbormaster's Office
The Harbor and Marina are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All boats must obtain a mooring or berthing assignment from the Harbor Office. Harbor personnel monitor VHF channels 16 and 5. A Harbor security worker comes on shift at 4:00 p.m. until the office opens the next day at 8:00 a.m. Harbor Security will open the office to check in visiting boats, and carry a radio and cellular phone (831-594-7760) with them on rounds.
Wifi at the HarborThe City of Monterey - Marina WiFi system is provided at no charge to the boaters, citizens, and visitors of the City Marina Waterfront. We monitor critical attributes of use and data type to determine how to best use the available capacity of the system. Most internet users are aware that music and video downloads use a tremendous amount of internet resource. We have the capability with this system to shape the internet traffic so as to limit download speeds and resource use of certain types of data and information. This functionality enables the system to provide the best allocation of "per device" speed and information. We thank you again for your support that enabled us to complete this project.
Visiting or "transient" boats are accommodated on a first-come first-served basis in the Marina. There are no reservations. Slips are assigned when a boat is within VHF range if on the water or at the launch ramp if being trailered to the Marina.
Monterey Municipal Marina provides 413 slips ranging in size from 20 to 50 feet in length. Six end ties accommodate boats from 40 feet to 75 feet. The Marina is a gated facility, gate keys are available to customers; a refundable deposit is required. The Marina currently has a waiting list for slips. Download a PDF application that includes more information.
Electricity and water are available at all slips and on the end ties. Slips H-1 through H-24 and A-5 through A-32 are provided with a 50 amp, 120 volt electrical service. Slips on F and I tiers have 20 amp, 120 volt service. All other slips have 30 amp, 120 volt service. End ties on A, B, D and G tiers have both 50 amp and 30 amp service.
A coin operated washer and dryer are available at the Harbormaster building. Boater restrooms and showers are available at the Harbormaster building and at the foot of A-Tier on Wharf II. Shower keys are required and available to customers at the Harbor Office; a refundable deposit is required.
Dock carts are locate at the south access ramp and at the A-tier gate. A gate key is required to unlock the carts.
Pull through trailer parking is available to vehicles with boat trailers only from 2:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. daily. After 9:00 a.m. these spaces are open parking. Daily permits are available at the parking permit kiosks located in each lot. Longer term parking permits for the waterfront lot may be purchased at the Harbor Office.
Two launch ramps are available to the public adjacent to the Harbormaster's office. There are no launch ramp fees in Monterey Harbor.
Special accommodations are made for organized cruises or races sponsored by a recognized yacht club or boating organization. Arrangements must be made well in advance. Space will be made available if possible. Rafting may be required.
Long-term tenants of the Marina enter into a slip license agreement with the City. A waiting list is maintained by the Harbor Office for slip licenses. Slips may be transferred with the sale of a boat, by the slip licensee, within the terms of the Marina Ordinance. The waiting list is extensive for the more popular slip sizes.
