All four of Monterey's Community Centers are located in the neighborhoods. They offer interesting programs for every age group with various interests. You can also throw private parties, hold non-profit organization meetings and special events at the Centers.

Cementerio El Encinal is situated in the heart of Monterey City overlooking El Estero Lake. At this beautiful and serene park-like setting, generations of families of Monterey rest amongst its many oaks. A full range of burial services is available.

Historic Monterey Harbor is located in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, the largest Marine Sanctuary in the world. Monterey Bay provides a natural setting for the Monterey Harbor and the Monterey Municipal Marina. Located in the City of Monterey along Del Monte Avenue, the Harbor and Marina provide access to a variety of recreational, as well as, commercial opportunities for residents and visitors alike in this scenic setting.

Meeting rooms for public groups are available at the Monterey Public Library, the Community Centers, and the Conference Center.

The Monterey Public Library is the largest public library on the Monterey Peninsula. It houses an extensive collection of books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, Web services, microforms and unique historical collections. It also plays a significant role in preserving Monterey's memory.

Built by the community for the community. The Monterey Sports Center is conveniently located in Downtown Monterey at 301 E. Franklin Street, just off Del Monte Avenue. On top of the excellent sports facilities, you can also sign up for a wide range of activities here. You could even throw a party right here at the Sports Center!

The City of Monterey owns and operates four parking garages that are available for public use. The City of Monterey owns and operates numerous parking lots through out the City that are available for public use. The lots are listed by area, Cannery Row, Downtown, and Waterfront Lots. For parking lots with pay stations, parking is only valid for the specific lot as indicated on the ticket.

Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail

One of the most unique features in Monterey County is the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. This paved path stretches 18 miles from Castroville in the north to Pacific Grove in the south. Commuters, residents, and visitors to avoid busy roads, get exercise or enjoy a scenic trip. You can enjoy all Monterey attractions along the waterfront trail, including Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, beaches, parks, historic sites and Downtown Monterey. Several local businesses offer bicycle, kayak, surfboard, paddle board, in-line skate and surrey (canopied quadricycles capable of seating up to six people) rentals along the path. Every mile offers scenic vistas and wildlife viewing, including harbor seals, sea otters, sea lions, birds and sometimes even whales!

Window on the Bay

Since the City's Master Plan of 1939, the City of Monterey has had the vision of acquiring open space and providing public access to our waterfront. The Window on the Bay Park is the result of these efforts. This beautiful park runs alongside Monterey State Beach, Del Monte Ave and the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreational Trail. There are plenty of recreational opportunities and scenic vistas.
