09/30/2019: Monterey Receives Distinguished Award for Financial Reporting

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Monterey by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). 09/25/2019: Groundwater Contaminant Remediation Underwater at 951 Del Monte Avenue

A second round of field groundwater contaminant remediation began at 951 Del Monte Avenue on the eastern end of Window-On-The-Bay Park on Monday, September 23, 2019, and will continue through Wednesday, October 2, 2019. The remediation work is being performed by environmental services firms Trinity Source Group, Inc. and Integral Consulting, Inc. on behalf of the City of Monterey and under regulatory oversight by the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board. The remedial method is Enhanced Reductive Dechlorination, a non-toxic soil injection treatment that utilizes the natural microbial community to deconstruct the legacy pollutants for an improved environmental condition into the future. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

In the Mindful Yoga and Meditation Workshop, flow between stillness and movement with yoga and guided meditation. The yoga practice will incorporate choices and modifications to be suitable for your personal needs. Chairs and props will be provided. Background: Measure S was approved by 82% of voters in November, 2018 as a continuation of Measure P. It authorized a 1% local district tax (sales and use tax) to be used “to address significant deferred maintenance by fixing streets, sidewalks, and potholes; improve related access and safety for senior citizens, disabled residents, and others; and repair its 100-year-old storm drain system to protect our beaches/Monterey Bay.” Learn more at monterey.org/fixingstreets.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for Old Capitol Site General Plan Amendment to Park and Open Space and Zoning Map Amendment to Open Space.

The proposed Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 and on the City website at: https://monterey.org/Services/Community-Development/Planning.  In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:
