MULTI-DISCIPLINARY OUTREACH TEAM (MDOT) FOCUSES ON LOCAL HOMELESS ISSUES AND RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IMPACTS

WHO: The Monterey Police Department and City of Monterey, Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, Monterey County Adult Protective Services, Montage Health/Community Health Innovations, Monterey County Behavioral Health, and the local YWCA.

WHAT: Partnering agencies will hold a joint press conference to introduce a new Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT). MDOT evolved from both the Homeless Exchange and a City Liaison group, led by the Monterey Police Department.

WHERE: The steps of Colton Hall Lawn at Monterey City Hall, 580 Pacific Street, Monterey, California, 93940

WHEN: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019

WHY: To introduce this new collaborative resource that provides broad expertise to address prevalent issues affecting the community, including homelessness, quality of life complaints, domestic violence, substance abuse, and associated chronic health life-style issues. These collaborations have developed strong connections that have resulted in team problem solving efforts that include input and ideas to creative and long-lasting solutions.

Individual interview opportunities as well as success story handouts will be available after the press conference.

04/16/2019: City of Monterey Seeks Public Input on Social Services - Survey open through April 22, 2019

The City of Monterey is looking for community input on the social services that are available for vulnerable communities citywide.  

The City’s Housing Programs Office is currently studying the ways that people connect with social services, which services are most helpful, and which community needs are experiencing a gap in services. This is part of a larger Vulnerable Communities Needs Analysis that began in early 2018. The study will help inform the City’s strategy for providing services to members of the community who qualify as part of a vulnerable group, which includes low-income residents, single parent households, disabled persons, seniors, and the homeless.

04/11/2019: Call for Public Art - Commemorative Scultpure and Mural for Monterey's 250th Birthday

In 2020, the City of Monterey is celebrating the 250th anniversary of its founding in 1770. To commemorate this historic milestone, the City of Monterey is calling for artists to submit proposals for a mural and sculpture. The unveiling of new and permanent public art will be a part of a series of celebrations in the summer of 2020.

04/11/2019: Narcotic Sales Arrest


On April 10th, 2019 at 1:22 PM, PRVNT, with the assistance of the Seaside Police Department and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant in the 1700 block of Kenneth Street, Seaside. Upon searching the residence, detectives located approximately a half pound of methamphetamine, one ounce of heroin, two pounds of marijuana, and numerous prescription pills. Detectives also located scales, bags, and other evidence of ongoing narcotic sales at the residence.

Test of the Public Emergency Evacuation Route Through the Presidio of Monterey on Sat. April 13 from 9-11 a.m.

The City of Monterey, Monterey Fire and Police Departments, and the Presidio of Monterey are planning a test of an emergency evacuation route for the public through the Presidio from Pine Street to High Street gates. On Saturday, April 13th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. residents will have an opportunity to use the travel route to test the mechanics of a potential evacuation through the Presidio of Monterey. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for the City of Monterey Storm Drainage Maintenance Plan.  The proposed Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 and on the City website at: www.monterey.org/planning. In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:
