06/26/2018: City of Monterey Adopts Voluntary Rental Guidelines

At the June 18, 2019  City Council Meeting, the Monterey City Council unanimously adopted Voluntary Rental Guidelines for residential rental owners, managers, and tenants. Aimed at providing a standard of guidelines for landlord/tenant relations, the Voluntary Rental Guidelines provide a platform to support quality agreements between property managers/owners and their tenants. The guidelines also include components to assist each party toward fair and reasonable resolution in situations that warrant mediation.

Monterey Seeking Applications for Wireless Subcommittee - Deadline August 1, 2018

The Monterey City Council is seeking applications from Monterey residents to serve on the Wireless Telecommunications Subcommittee. The Subcommittee will consist of two residents and two Planning Commissioners, and will review regulations, ordinances, and policies and make recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.

06/11/2018: Community Meeting Before the Planning Commission on Wireless Facility Regulations, June 26, 2018

The Planning Commission will host a community meeting to review policy alternatives to the City’s existing regulations of wireless facilities on Tuesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, Few Memorial Hall at 580 Pacific Street. The public is also invited to attend a one-hour pre-meeting with the City’s consulting attorney Joseph Van Eaton, Partner, Best Best & Krieger, at 5:45 p.m. at the same location. Mr. Van Eaton will take questions during the pre-meeting and will incorporate responses in his presentation before the Planning Commission.

04/04/2018: City Council to Consider Amending the Cannery Row Local Coastal Land Use Plan

The City Council, at the April 17 evening City Council meeting, will consider a recommendation from the Planning Commission to amend the Cannery Row Local Coastal Land Use Plan (LUP) to allow residential uses: 1) on the street level; and, 2) to exceed 30 dwelling units per acre.
