05/29/2020: Monterey's Bold Past and Gold Future Celebrated Virtually with an Event Hosted by Four Mayors - NEWS RELEASE

Monterey turns 250 years old on June 3, 2020. The City of Monterey has planned for this “never again” occasion for at least the past three years. Celebrations for several unique, featured, and year-long events to take place throughout the year were suddenly halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We decided to celebrate this important and historic event in the best way possible – virtually and gathering four living mayors spanning five generations. These dynamic leaders of our time will talk about the significance of our beautiful city to the establishment of California, the changes, challenges, and opportunities faced by each generation, the uniqueness of our international culture, the importance of our military as well as our fishing industry, and much more.
