CITY OF MONTEREY PUBLIC NOTICE CALL FOR SEALED BIDS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey invites sealed bids for furnishing the following:  Replace Failing Water Heaters, Install Solar Hot Water System, and Renew Cold Water Piping (POMP15085B).  In general, the work consists of, but is not limited to, rebuilding the water heater system in a mechanical room, re-plumbing the cold water feed in a mechanical room, removing a steam boiler and steam system appurtenances, relining a hot water storage tank, re-plumbing a heat exchanger to provide solar heat for the buildings space heating system, installing an evacuated tube solar hot water heating system, removing abandoned piping and unused equipment, and ensuring all remaining piping is properly supported, insulated, and labeled for a clean and efficiently operated mechanical room.   

Copies of the specifications and conditions governing the submission of the sealed bids describing the above project may be obtained on-line from the City of Monterey website located at monterey.org/Businesses/Bids-and-RFPs, and directly at https://www.ebidboard.com/public/projects/showproject.asp?mbrguid={1E39C53B-96B0-4BA8-A87B-ABAB42633190}&projectguid={69CFCCE6-5DD3-46CA-8665-9B8FEA4CEFFF}. Any person in doubt as to the true meaning of any part of the specifications, or who finds omissions therein, may submit to the issuing department contact, a written request for an interpretation or correction thereof.  In order to respond to such questions and amend specifications as necessary, the City may extend the bid opening date as deemed necessary.  A 10% bid bond is required with this bid proposal.

A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for 10:00 am on February 14, 2018 on the Lower Presidio off Corporal Ewing Road, Monterey, CA  93940.  This conference will allow bidders to review and inspect project conditions within the Presidio of Monterey. Failure to attend and arrive on time may result in your bid being deemed non-responsive resulting in rejection of your bid.  Contractors must have valid federally recognized ID, vehicle registration and vehicle insurance with them to enter the Military Installation.

Bids shall be delivered to the office of the City Clerk, attention Finance Director, 580 Pacific St., Room 6, City of Monterey, CA 93940 no later than the hour of 2:00 p.m. on the 27th day of February, 2018 at which hour and date they will be opened and examined.  A report will be forwarded to the City Council in the Council Chambers of the City Hall to wit, Few Memorial Hall of Records, and the Council may award the bid, reserving the right, however to reject any and all such bids.
