Literary Activities Volunteer

Service Area Monterey Public Library
Purpose The Literary Activities Volunteer assists staff in organizing and facilitating literary-based group activities, and serves as monitor while the activities are in session.
Duties The Literary Activities Volunteer assists staff by helping to organize, facilitate and monitor book discussion groups, writing workshops and other literary, reading and writing activities that are developed by staff; greets customers; helps prepare and distribute handouts; prepares and serves refreshments; and performs light set-up and clean-up duties.
Qualifications The ideal Literary Activities Volunteer enjoys reading and/or writing and/or other literary activities, has strong communication skills, works well with people of all ages and backgrounds, performs duties with a high degree of professionalism, is attentive to detail, responsible, committed and punctual.
Training  A 1-2 hour training session will be provided by staff, with additional training and meetings with supervisor, as needed.
Time Commitment 2-4 hours per month with a 6-month minimum commitment
