Library Store Volunteer

Service    Area Monterey Public Library
Purpose The Library Store Volunteer assists staff in maintaining the Library’s gift shop, the profits from which benefit the Library Trust Fund.
Duties The Library Store volunteer restocks, tidies and dusts shelves and merchandise, and creates attractive arrangements of items for sale in the Library store. The volunteer also maintains a list of store inventory and communicates to his/her supervisor the need for purchasing merchandise and supplies.
Qualifications The ideal Library Store Volunteer has an interest in or knowledge of retail space and merchandising, an eye for attractively arranging displays, and a willingness to keep the store neat and tidy. The volunteer should interact with library customers and staff in a friendly, courteous manner, be attentive to detail, responsible, and punctual. The volunteer does not handle sale transactions, but may be called upon to answer questions about merchandise or the store when customers are present.
Training A 1-2 hour orientation and training session will be provided.
Time  Commitment 2-6 hours per week, on a consistent weekly schedule to be agreed-upon, with a 6-month commitment.
