Volunteer Library Greeter

Service Area Monterey Public Library
Purpose The Volunteer Library Greeter assists staff in providing a friendly, welcoming resource near the Library entrance.
Duties The Volunteer Library Greeter directs customers to various areas and service desks of the Library; assists customers with the use of the self-check machines and catalog stations; straightens materials on display shelving and replenishes “face-out” displays as needed.
Qualifications The ideal Volunteer Library Greeter is friendly and out-going; skilled at interacting with a wide-range of Library customers of diverse ages and backgrounds; is interested in and knowledgeable about the Monterey Public Library; is physically capable of frequent bending and is capable of standing for extended periods of time; is responsible, punctual, and committed.
Training A 2-hour orientation and training will be provided, with additional training as needed.
Time  Commitment 2-4 hours per week, afternoons and weekends preferred, on a regular schedule as agreed upon, with a minimum 6-month commitment.
