Waterfront Volunteer (Fall-Spring Position)

Service Area Monterey Marina/Harbor Facility
Purpose The Harbor Division is looking for a few good people to accomplish tasks necessary to a more efficient operation of a waterfront facility, including a large marina and two commercial wharves, which serve both the fishing and tourist industry. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of waterfront operations.
Duties Volunteers will participate in and learn, hands-on, several technical and clerical skills applicable to the overall function of the Marina/Harbor facility. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assisting with communications and dispatch, clerical tasks and recordkeeping, assisting as extra ‘eyes and ears’ of Security Watchstander, sign maintenance, general cleanup, and painting. Volunteers under age 25 will not use power tools.
Qualifications Must be age 16 or above, and have an interest in marine operations. All training and supervision will be provided by Harbor Staff. Volunteers must be able to swim.
Time  Commitment Minimum 4 hours per week, between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, or hours by arrangement on the weekend.
