Purpose |
Assist Harbor Security Workers in the
performance of their duties |
|
Duties |
Accompany the Harbor Security Watchstander on
their rounds of the Outer Harbor, Marina and Waterfront. Observe and report unusual
activities. Provide directions and tourist information to visitors. Assist the
Watchstander staging equipment for emergency response, such as loading de-watering pumps
in the boat or truck. Assist with telephone notification of customers in emergencies.
Check customers' mooring lines and mooring pendants. Haze sea lions from docks and open
gates for customer access as requested. |

Qualifications |
Good coordination and dexterity. Ability to lift
and carry up to 35 lbs. Working knowledge of small engine operation. Good telephone
skills. Working knowledge of office equipment including copier, fax, and computers with
Windows operating systems. Ability to swim. |

Time Commitment |
Harbor Security shifts are from
1600 to 2400 and 0000 to 0800. Volunteer participation is encouraged on the first half of
the evening watch, the last half of the morning watch and for special events. The volunteers are encouraged to participate as their personal schedule
permits. Cancellation of a scheduled shift is requested by 1500 of the workday preceding
the shift, emergencies excepted. |
