Freeway Access
- Direct access to Monterey is provided from San Jose
and San Francisco via Highway 156 off State Route 101. Access from
Los Angeles is achieved via State Route 101 and highway 68.
Airlines -
Monterey Peninsula Airport (www.montereyairport.com)
provides passenger service from Monterey with daily direct
flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco
International Airport (SFO), LA/Ontario, Salt
Lake City, Phoenix, Denver, San Diego, Las Vegas. For a list of

Airbus
service (Monterey-Salinas Airbus - Website: www.montereyairbus.com) to airports in San Francisco and San Jose
is also available from downtown Monterey.
Ground Transportation
- Transportation throughout the region is available from
the Simoneau Plaza
(the transit area) in downtown Monterey.
Monterey-Salinas
Transit provides daily bus service
throughout Monterey County. Seasonal
summer service to Big Sur and Free
MST Trolley
service along Monterey's waterfront
is also provided.
WAVE
MST Trolleys provide
free transportation between the
Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, the Custom
House Garages, Fisherman's Wharf and other waterfront
areas.
Monterey-Salinas Airbus ( Website: www.montereyairbus.com)
also provides 14 trips daily to the San Jose and San Francisco
international airports from downtown Monterey.

Senior Taxi
Scrip is available to Monterey residents. A $20 taxi scrip book

Parking -
The City of Monterey maintains two Custom House parking
garages within the downtown area. The 1,000 car Cannery Row parking
garage serves Cannery Row and New Monterey business districts.
Overall, the City provides 4,106 spaces of off-street parking. In
addition, more than 3,000 on-street metered parking spaces
throughout the City assure optimum parking availability. For more

Bus Service
Greyhound Bus (Website: www.greyhound.com) service is not available in
Monterey but it is available in Salinas.
Train Service
AMTRAK (Website: www.amtrak.com)
Intercity Rail Passenger Services in Salinas are available via bus
from the Monterey Transit Plaza in downtown.
