Route 68  Widening Project

Background and Scoping
Route 68 is a two-lane undivided roadway constructed in the early 1940s. It serves as the primary transportation facility between SR 1 and the City of Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach and the CHOMP. In the mid 1950s, this portion of the roadway was upgraded with improved radii and superelevation. It was subsequently designated as part of Route 68 with a posted speed of 55 kilometers per hour (kph). Currently there are two 3.6 meter (m) (11.8 feet) lanes with shoulders ranging from 0.6 m (2.0 feet) to 1.2 m (3.9 feet). More>>>
