Policies
The Monterey Sports Center has
established policies for use and enjoyment of the facilities by all guests. If you have
any questions about any of these policies or have suggestions for improving the policies,
please contact any staff member on your next visit, drop us an

Monterey Sports Center Policies
- All guests must check in at the Front Desk prior to entering
the facility; proper and valid identification may be required for admittance.
- Complimentary lockers are available for all guests and class
participants using the facility. Locks for lockers must be provided by the participant and
all possessions, including locks, must be removed daily. Locks will be removed at the end
of each day.
- It is encouraged that all personal belongings including
articles of clothing and gym bags be stored in lockers provided. Locks are available for
sale at the Sports Cafe and Pro Shop.
- The Monterey Sports Center is not responsible for lost or
stolen articles. Inquiries regarding lost and found items may be made at the Front Desk.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn in all areas except locker
rooms and swimming pool. Appropriate athletic attire is required at all times throughout
the facility.
- Only scuff-resistant soles are allowed in activity areas of
the facility. For your safety, muddy or dirty shoes are not permitted. Guests are asked to
wear a clean pair of shoes for their indoor recreational use.
- Youth 4 years and older must use the appropriate male or
female locker rooms. Separate family dressing rooms and lockers are available for parents
who wish to assist their children.
- Children 5 years and under must be directly supervised at
all times by someone at least 18 years of age and must be accompanied in the water when
using the pools.
- Children 12 and under are not allowed in the Weight Training
Center and Cardio Fitness Center. Youth 13-15 years of age who have completed the Fitness
Orientation course, or are accompanied by a parent may use the centers.
- Smoking is not allowed in the facility
- Food and drink are allowed in the lobby, concourse, and
sundeck only! Water is allowed in all areas.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the facility.
- Profane language and abuse of equipment will not be
tolerated.
- Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters and animals
are not permitted inside the facility.
- For your convenience an ATM and payphones are located in the
lobby.
- Participants are asked to respect the rights of other
guests. Please display good sportsmanship and manners so that participation in all
activities is enjoyable and safe.
- Lap swimmers: Please use circle swim when more than two
people are in one lane.
- It is your responsibility to check on the
availability of facilities. Changes in scheduled activities may occur without prior
notice. Current schedules are available at the Front Desk. The Monterey Sports Center is
subject to closure(s) due to facility maintenance. In this case, every effort will be made
to inform the public in advance.
- MSC management reserves the right to suspend or revoke user
privileges as deemed necessary for daily admission and EUP passes.
- It is assumed that participants at MSC understand the
inherent risk or hazard of recreational activities. Participants take full responsibility
for their actions and physical conditions. The City of Monterey and its agents are free
and harmless from liability, loss, cost, or expense, which may result from services to the
participant.

- All parents must remain in the facility while their
children are in the Kids Zone Room.
- Absolutely no sick children are to be accepted in the Kids
Zone Room (e.g., runny nose, cough, congestion, fever, vomiting, etc.) We strive to keep
our room a healthy and happy place. Please respect other children who are healthy by
keeping sick children at home.
- Please make sure all of your child's belongings are labeled
(bottle, lunch box, diaper bag, etc.)
- This service may be used up to a maximum of two hours.
Please make sure your children are fed and changed before checking them into the Kids Zone
Room. Please bring an extra diaper and a snack if your child will be in the center for
more than one hour.
- Children are supervised at all times. For the enjoyment of
the children, the Kids Zone Room has an assortment of books, games, toys, and supervised
projects. It is advised that no object other than security items be brought from home. The
Monterey Sports Center cannot be responsible for anything lost or stolen.
- The adult who signs the child into the Kids Zone must also
sign the child out, unless you have written an authorization stating otherwise.
- Staff may ask for identification.
- If you have items which you would like to donate to the Kids
Zone Room, please contact the Facility Coordinator.
