Monterey Starts Seismic Retrofit of Historic Larkin Street Bridge

On August 29, 2005, the City of Monterey will begin work to seismically retrofit the historically significant Larkin Street Bridge. The George Bianchi Construction Company will construct the project, which is scheduled for completion in late March 2006. Larkin Street Bridge is located at the end of Larkin Street and connects the street to the Monterey High School parking lot. The project will structurally restore and strengthen the bridge and improve the street. This important safety project is partially funded with a grant from the Federal Highway Bridge Replacement Rehabilitation program.

Intermittent bridge closures and construction noises are expected during the construction. For project scheduling and updated information, please visit the construction updates page on the City of Monterey’s website at www.monterey.org/construction.

The City of Monterey appreciates your cooperation and patience during the construction of this project. Should you have any questions regarding this project, please call the City of Monterey Construction Management office at (831) 646-3997.
