Monte Vista School in Monterey begins a food scrap composting program that will include landscape cuttings. 

A high school group will conduct a recycling performance piece. This group will go to all the Monterey Schools and teach children about recycling and waste reduction.

Also, a youth group will be organized to design and build a float made from recycled material for the July 4, 2003 parade.

Poster Contest!
Watch for news about the poster contest, with the theme being "Waste Reduction/Recycling". The winning poster design will be printed and distributed throughout the City and displayed in businesses.
