Lifeline customers

Monterey City Disposal Service now provides a reduced service fee for qualified individuals. Lifeline Service is limited refuse service for customers with low income. Lifeline allows for one 40-gallon refuse container and unlimited recycling of mixed paper and mixed containers places at the curb. Yard waste and large item recycling are not included in this service.  Customers qualify for Lifeline Service by demonstrating that they are currently on the lifeline service offered by Pacific Bell. Customers must re-qualify each year for Lifeline Service with MCDS. To apply, mail your most current Pacific Bell telephone bill showing your eligibility for Lifeline service and address. Mail this information to:

After proof of eligibility, your billing will reflect a monthly charge of $8.59 per month. If you have questions, call customer service at 831.372.7977 and ask for Lifeline service information.
