How to use
the carts in Monterey
You have a brown cart
 for non-recyclable
trash,
a green cart for yard trimmings, and a
blue cart for recyclable mixed
paper/cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum and tin. Click on the links above for more detailed information.
To aid our
residential customers in the City of Monterey, Monterey City Disposal
Service Inc. will be providing new recycling carts to our residential
customers. This 65-gallon cart will make recycling much easier for
our customers.
How will it make it
easier?
- You will no longer have separate
containers for mixed paper and mixed glass, aluminum, plastic, and metal
- Only one container for
recyclables to bring down to the curb.
- It's on wheels! No
more bending to pick up your bins
- 65 gallons more than
doubles the capacity of the two fourteen gallon bins used now.
- Extra capacity means
that those of you who produce more recyclable materials than your bin
will hold, will now have more space.
- Extra capacity also
means that for those who are currently unable to fill the current
bins, may only need to put out the container every other week.
- Increased recycling
participation. If it is easier to recycle, more people will do
it. Increased participation helps conserve our natural
resources.
