Wasting At The Office |
|

I refuse to name names and embarrass the lot of
you but some of you are wasting away...right
before our very eyes! But, I am offering a
solution to your wasting. Here are some ideas:
~Single sided copies! EEK! Talk about wasting.
If you are printing directly to your
photocopier, you can change your defaults so
that everything is copied double-sided. This way
you can REQUEST single sided copies and default
to double. It’s easy. Here are the steps:
~ Go to Start, Settings, and then Control Panel
~ Click on Printers
~ Click on the printer you are using
~ Click on Printer
~ Click on Printer Preferences
~ Click on 2-Sided Book (if that is what you
want)
~ Click on Apply
~ Click OK
Finished. If you want to do a single sided copy,
when you are in WORD or Excel, go to Print,
Properties, and Click 1-sided. It will copy for
that document but your default will be
double-sided.
~Making Copies for Meetings Using Single Sided
Copies! Good grief! You’re not the only Martian
on the Planet Kimosabe. Every time we do
something really dumb like wasting paper
unnecessarily, there are millions of other
un-informed people doing the same. So, stop the
insanity. If you used both sides of the paper,
you have already reduced your wasting by 50%.
Recycling is fine and dandy but don’t waste good
paper and resources when you can easily copy on
both sides. OR Do you need to make copies at
all? Can you use an agenda tablet at the front
of meeting instead? Hmmm. Food for thought.
~Using Nice Clean New Envelopes for Interoffice
Mail! If you are one of these wasting culprits,
I suggest you hide your head in shame now! Use
and reuse the pleasant interoffice envelopes or
reuse an envelope you receive in the mail and
paste an interoffice cover sheet on it.
~You Keep Getting Catalogs You Don’t Want and
You Just Recycle Them! Holy Cheese and
Crackers! What are you thinking? Sure, it’s
great to recycle but literally tons of paper is
wasted by remaining on these catalog mailing
lists, especially when you receive four of the
same with a different version of your name.
Either call or send them a request to remove the
name or names off of their mailing list. GET OFF
THE JUNK MAIL LIST. Stop getting all that
unnecessary mailbox fodder. Check out our
Junk Mail section and you can find out more.
Here’s the lowdown on WASTING…just say NO!
That’s right. Change bad habits and just say NO.
If you can save resources (which has fuel and
air pollution all wrapped up with it) you will
make a huge difference right away.
