The City of Monterey started the Blue to Blue program in February 2008 thanks to a grant from the California Department of Conservation. Through the program we’ve been able to assist 200 bars, restaurants, and hotels with a comprehensive recycling program which includes FREE interior bins, educational posters, flyers, brochures and labels as well as personal training to ensure maximum program effectiveness.

The program was called "Blue to Blue" in an attempt to further brand the color blue for recycling and take the guess work out of waste compliance. Regardless of what language is spoken, blue is always the color for recycling.
