This 50-acre park with overnight group camping, walking trails, BBQ picnic areas, play equipment, turf playfield, is located in Monterey. The Park has a basketball court, limited hiking trails, and a large lawn area which can be used for Frisbee, kite flying, football, softball and relaxing.

Location
Veteran's Memorial Park may be reached by driving due west on Jefferson St. (up the hill) from the heart of Old Monterey, or by taking Highway 68 west from Highway 1 until you see a white adobe wall on the right side of the road with black letters that says "Skyline Forest". Turn right there, go to Skyline Drive and turn left. Skyline Drive will lead you right into the Park. Veteran’s Memorial Park is about 1 mile away from historic downtown Monterey. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is about 1 ½ miles from the park, and various beaches are within 2 miles.

Huckleberry Hill Nature Preserve is an 81-acre park with numerous, well established hiking trails. Pedestrian access is through Veteran's Memorial Park.

Campsite facilities
The Park has 40 campsites, 30 of which can accommodate trailers. Hikers and bikers (non-motorized) are welcome. Each site has a table and a fire pit for cooking and campfires. Water can be obtained from faucets located in the camping area. Restrooms and showers are available. The site capacity limit is two vehicles and eight people per campsite. The maximum length of stay is three consecutive days. Vehicles are limited to 21 feet. Vehicles longer than 21 feet will be referred elsewhere.

  • Fees
    For fee information please see our Parks and Recreation Schedule of Fees. If you have a Golden Age/Access Passport, you are entitled to a $5 discount for a campsite or $2 off in the hiker area.

  • Reservations
    Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

Youth Group Areas
Two group areas can be reserved for overnight youth groups of up to 100 people. Each has a large double BBQ pit for cooking, tables, and water is available. Restrooms and showers are available, also. For fee information please see our Parks and Recreation Schedule of Fees.

Picnic areas
Three day-use picnic areas are available and can be reserved for groups. The facilities provided are the same as for the overnight youth group facilities (see above). Group BBQs are available for reservation. For fee information please see our Parks and Recreation Schedule of Fees. Reservations can be made by calling the Park Attendant at 831.646.3865 or coming by the Park.
