  1. Think before you throw. Is it really garbage or can it be recycled?
  2. Buy larger quantities, it eliminates over-packaging and saves resources.
  3. Lead by example. Your children watch what you do and learn by your actions.
  4. July 4th – bring a clear plastic bag to save recyclables. Clear bags help to avoid confusing it with trash.
  5. Recycle yard trimmings or begin a composting program at your home.
  6. Buy products that are made from recycled materials. This single action saves trees and water.
  7. Tie tree trimmings in 4-foot by 4-foot bundles if they do not fit in your yardwaste container.
  8. Make recycling a habit not a chore.
  9. Donate clothing and toys to charity organizations.
  10. Remodeling? Bring wood to the landfill to be mulched. Take appliances to the
    Last Chance Mercantile in Marina.

Commercial Accounts: Do you have a need to recycle landscape trimmings or yardwaste? The City is interested in beginning a program to recycle yardwaste from commercial establishments and we need your input. Please call Angela Brantley at 646.5662 or email her to discuss this possible option.
