City of Monterey Volunteen Program Now Accepting Applications

"What can I do this summer?"  is a question asked by many young people this time of year.  For teens 13 to 16 the City of Monterey may have an answer.

The Volunteen program is for teens interested in gaining job skills, getting an introduction to working with the public and exploring different career paths while volunteering with the City of Monterey.  Volunteer opportunities include positions with summer Recreation programs such as Whispering Pines and Monterey Sports Camp; at the Monterey Public Library, the Harbor Division and City Attorney's office.

Teens must go through an application process similar to applying for a paid position that includes submission of an application and a teacher recommendation as well as going through an interview for the position. Participants earn valuable work experience and develop important skill sets over their summer break and still have time for fun!

Applications are now available. The deadline to apply for the program is April 21st.  For an application, please call 646-3719 or visit www.monterey.org/volunteen.
