REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER/FALL ACTIVITIES BEGINS MAY 3,
2008
It’s time to register for Summer and Fall programs
with the City of Monterey Recreation & Community Services
Department! A wide variety of Summer/Fall programs are planned for
all members of the family. At the neighborhood playgrounds,
recreation leaders will entertain children with games, arts and
crafts projects, nature activities, and take them on fun excursions
like roller-skating and Toro Park. Children attending Whispering
Pines Day Camp and Camp Quien Sabe resident camp will learn about
nature, how to cook outdoors, play games, folk dance, sing, hike,
and create nature crafts.
Summer and Fall are also a great time for both
children and adults to take classes. Everything from cooking to
sports is offered for everyone’s enjoyment. The city will also be
offering aquatic classes, sports camps, cheerleading camp, tot
activities including Camp “Lots-O-Tots” and Toddling Gourmet,
fitness classes, and many adult and senior activities. Look in the
Summer/Fall Activities Guide for a variety of new program offerings
for the whole family, including Hip-Hop Dance, Youth Flag Football
and a wide variety of Cooking Classes.
Classes are scheduled to begin during the week of
June 2. Registration for Monterey City residents begins Saturday,
May 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Other city residents may register
on Saturday, May 3 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Other city residents may
continue to register on May 12.
Programs and classes held at the Monterey Sports
Center for the summer will begin June 1. Registration will begin
Thursday, May 1 starting at 5:30 a.m. at the Monterey Sports Center,
301 E. Franklin Street. For more information call 646-3730.
The Summer/Fall Activities Guide is available at the
Monterey Recreation & Community Services Department administrative
office at 546 Dutra Street, the Monterey Sports Center, other city
recreation facilities, and the Monterey Public Library beginning
