Immediate
Project Construction - Pacific Street Intersection
Improvements
The City’s contractor, Graniterock Pavex Construction Division will
begin construction on Monday, March 17th
for the Pacific Street Intersection Improvements Project. This
project is funded by grant monies and the City's Capital Improvement
Program. The goal for this project is to upgrade existing traffic
signals along Pacific Street for better traffic flow and
circulation, and to replace the aging storm drain system. The three
intersections that will be upgraded are:
Pacific Street/Jefferson Street, Pacific Street/Madison Street, and
Pacific Street/Martin Street/El Dorado Street.
The
work includes: the upgrade of traffic signal controller equipment;
the installation/relocation of traffic signal equipment;
construction of curb, gutter and sidewalk and access ramps;
installation of a stormdrain system; roadway pavement rehabilitation
at the three intersections; and installation of interconnect fiber
optic cables.
Traffic delays and detours due to intermittent lane and street
closures are anticipated. Construction noise should be expected
during construction. The estimated
completion date for this project is late July, 2008. For
project scheduling and updated information, please visit the
Construction Updates page on the City of Monterey’s website at
www.monterey.org/construction.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience during the construction
of this important project. Should you have any questions, please
