Community Police Academy

The Monterey Police Department is extending an invitation to apply for our next Community Police Academy.  It begins March 19th and concludes May 7th, 2008.

During this 8-week course, meeting Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., participants will receive classes in police investigations, traffic enforcement, community services, firearms, defensive tactics, city government, patrol procedures and more.  This course is not meant to train people to be police officers; rather, it is intended to open communication and connects the police department with you, the people we serve. We will be recruiting for our Police Volunteers (MVPs) so if you’re interested in this exciting volunteer opportunity now is the time.

To be eligible, one must be at least 19 years of age, live or work in the City of Monterey, have no misdemeanor arrests within the last 12 months, and have no felony convictions at anytime from anywhere.

For additional information or to request an application, please call Public Education Officer Eric Stidham at
646.3819.  You may also email Officer Stidham at stidham@ci.monterey.ca.us.
