Evening Music Concert to be Held in Colton Hall

Norma and Richard Mayer will perform on January 16, 2008, as part of the Colton Hall Evening Music series.  Sponsored by the Colton Hall and Cultural Arts Commission the FREE concert begins at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in historic Colton Hall.  Seating is limited.  Call for reservations at 831-646-5640

Norma and Richard Mayer play a fiery brand of chamber music not often associated with their rare musical blend-music for unaccompanied voice and flute.  They have performed throughout Europe and California featuring a vast musical repertoire encompassing Classical, African-American, Spirituals, show tunes and Jazz.

Norma and Richard began performing together in the later 1980s in Austin Texas.  Norma’s voice has thrilled audiences from the Italian opera stage to the African-American church and the American musical theater.  Flutist Richard is equally at home performing Classical, Jazz, or Pop music and has performed in such diverse settings as St. Petersburg, Russia (with Norma), Austin’s Top of the Mark jazz club, the Kerrville Folk Festival and at the University of Texas.

The Colton Hall Concert will feature their wide unique blend of music with a mixture of arias, classical and folk songs, and instrumental pieces.  The works of Bach, R. Vaughn Williams, Puccini, Strauss, Gershwin, Schubert and H.T. Burleigh will be highlighted.
