Monterey, Ca. The City of Monterey is giving away 5,000 energy
saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) during the holiday
season. CFLs use 75% less electricity and last twenty times longer
than traditional incandescent light bulbs. The City will distribute
2 CFLs per household free of charge from Tuesday, Nov. 27 through
Thursday, Nov. 29 at the following locations:
Hilltop Park Center, Jessie Street and David
Avenue
Monterey Youth Center, 777 Pearl Street
Monterey Senior Center, 280 Dickman Avenue at
Lighthouse
Bookmobile, Wed. 12:45 3:30 p.m. La Mesa
Village Tech Connection at Leahy & Farragut, 4:15 5:15 p.m.
Hilltop Park Center; Thurs. 1 2 p.m. Park Lane, 2:15 3:15
Hoffman Avenue, 4:45-5:45 Del Monte Beach
Tuesday Farmers Market, Alvarado Street on Nov.

It is estimated that if every household in the U.S. replaced one
conventional light bulb with a CFL enough electricity would be saved
to power a city of 1.5 million people.
The City received the CFLs from the Sierra Club and PG&E.
