Seven galleries in this private not-for-profit museum display a wide variety of temporary exhibitions as well as works from the extensive permanent collection. Many exhibits concentrate on the artistic heritage of this region.

MONTEREY MUSEUM OF ART AT LA MIRADA

Housed in an elegant historic home and surrounded by magnificent gardens overlooking Lake El Estero and the Bay, this branch of the museum exhibits early California art as well as works by contemporary regional artists. Gallery space has been enhanced by a recent wing designed by noted architect Charles Moore.
