Alvarado Gallery
The City of Monterey presents rotating art exhibits at the Alvarado Gallery in the Monterey Conference Center. The Gallery provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate the rich artistic and cultural heritage of the Monterey area. A call for artwork is usually conducted each fall.

Innovations in History - Monterey Peninsula Students’ History Day Exhibits

The City of Monterey and the Monterey Conference Center announce the current Alvarado Gallery exhibit: Innovations in History - Monterey Peninsula Students’ History Day Exhibits. The exhibit features projects created by students from Robert Louis Stevenson 8th grade, All Saints Day School 7th grade, and The International School of Monterey 5th grade.

History Day is a statewide program in association with the National History Day. The Lyceum of Monterey County and the Monterey County Office of Education sponsor this countywide event each year for students in grades 4-12. Over 200 students participated in this year’s event which took place, March 20-21. Many of the project boards on display qualified for the California state competition, May 7-9 in Pasadena, CA.

The exhibit will be on display May 14 through August 2, 2010

Location and Hours

Alvarado Gallery is located on the second floor of the Monterey Conference Center, One Portola Plaza (Del Monte Ave. at Calle Principal) in downtown Monterey. The Conference Center is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and may be open on weekends for scheduled events.
