Volunteer of the Year
Sue Skipper
Sue served as a volunteer for the Monterey Police
Department from April 2003 to February 2009. Sue passed away
recently. Sue was a wonderful person and she loved the MVPs.
She loved coming in and helping. She loved wearing her uniform and
representing the Police Department. She especially loved her
friendships with the officers.
Sue was a handwriting expert and could tell you all kinds of things
about a person from a sample of their handwriting. She delighted
many officers and was always ready if someone wanted a sampling of her
expertise.
She was bright, funny, and happy and always ready with a kind word and a
smile.
Sue was dedicated. She put in many hours of faithful service over
many years of volunteering for the MVP program. After she fell ill
she stayed in touch, even going so far as to ask if she could come in
and help in civilian clothing as her uniform no longer fit. If we needed
her for an assignment she would always say yes. She was always
ready to pitch in from helping Records to fingerprinting the kids to
keeping stats on DUI checkpoints.
Her loss will be keenly felt, not just by our PD family, but among all
who knew and loved her. And to know her was to love her. No
one could say an unkind thing about Sue. She was a great person
and a great MVP. |
